"The legacy of the Sisters of St. Joseph, lived out through the innovative founding of SJEM, provides an opportunity for the vision of the Second Vatican Council to come alive through and with our committed and creative lay partners.” - Sister Rita Schmitz,  Founding Member of SJEM, Professor Emerita Fontbonne University

St. Joseph Educational Ministries (SJEM) is a Catholic educational sponsoring entity of the Roman Catholic Church.  Approved by the Vatican as a Catholic sponsor for educational institutions, SJEM is an innovative initiative of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, St. Louis Province who believe in the empowerment of lay people to leadership roles traditionally held only by religious to sponsorship of Catholic education. In this way, SJEM is a bridge between our schools and the church.

Together, we are more ...

Sharing in the CSJ motto of “Together, we are more …”SJEM believes that we are strengthened by relationships and seeks to maintain strong ties with the educational communities with whom we have the privilege of serving. Sponsored institutions and SJEM join together working toward the same vision of Catholic faith-based education that promotes social justice bringing about unifying love to the world. We seek to form leaders who join the CSJ vision and reflect God’s love to the dear neighbor everywhere.
