Starting in January, we began transitioning to our new name — St. Joseph Hearing + Speech. This new name and logo reflect our commitment to helping every child with hearing loss reach their full potential.

“After a yearlong journey of internal reflection with the staff, board and outside branding professionals, we are updating our identity to better align with our mission, the services we provide, and the community we serve,” states Jeffrey Chapman, president of St. Joseph Hearing + Speech.

“Institute” was appropriate for many years, but now, it is no longer reflective of our dynamic, flexible services. This change signifies our growth and evolution as St. Joseph strives to be the preeminent Listening and Spoken Language (LSL) resource for children and their families. The powerful combination of access to sound through advanced technology and evolving educational techniques provides very impactful outcomes for children. Including the “+” symbol in the name is a unique representation of our commitment to Listening and Spoken Language.

Chief Program Officer, Lindy Powell, shares, “While our name and logo are changing, our core mission remains the same. We remain deeply committed to Listening and Spoken Language and will continue to serve those in our care with steadfast dedication.”

As one of the oldest faith-based organizations in the United States dedicated to educating children with hearing loss, we strive to ensure our brand appropriately represents those we serve. We seek to honor our Catholic heritage, the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and the expertise of our LSL professionals. Throughout our 185+ year history, the visionary Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet have guided our organization through several name changes to better serve the children in our care.
