CSJs Honor Nazareth Living Center Employee With St. Joseph the Worker Award

Twenty Nazareth Living Center employees were nominated for the St. Joseph Worker Award

On May 1, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet honored Nazareth Living Center employee Mary Kelly at their inaugural St. Joseph Worker Award presentation.

Mary has worked evening shifts in the environmental services department for nearly 40 years. Province Leadership Team member Sister Margaret Schulz presented Mary with the award.

“We honor not only Mary’s longevity, more importantly, we honor her care and concern for every resident on the Nazareth campus as she reaches out to all of us with a loving heart,” said S. Margaret. “When necessary, Mary acts as our advocate, the voice for those who sometimes feel voiceless. Mary was here when Nazareth became less a convent and more a licensed care facility. Since then, she has embraced not only the sisters, but the laity as our dear neighbor. Mary demonstrates over and over that she is a vital partner in this ministry we call Nazareth Living Center.”

Twenty total nominations were received for the award, with employees from every shift, department and building represented. All nominees were invited to a blessing recognizing their commitment to serving at Nazareth and reminding them of their place in the CSJ family. With outstretched hands, the nominees were blessed by the sisters. Each nominee received a handwritten thank you note from a sister living outside of St. Louis.
