Sister Rosemary Render, CSJ

Sister Rosemary Render was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1964 and was received into the novitiate in 1965 as Sister Rita later returning to her baptismal name. She received a bachelor’s degree in English from Fontbonne College (now University) in 1969 and a master’s degree in elementary education administration from Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, Illinois in 1976.

Sister Rosemary taught in Chicago, Illinois at St. Bede the Venerable Grade School in 1969-71; Nativity of Our Lord Grade School in 1971-73; and was principal at St. Viator Grade School in 1973-78.

In 1978 she came to St. Louis and was principal at St. Louis Cathedral Grade School for five years. Sister Rosemary then taught in Champaign, Illinois at Holy Cross Grade School for eight years ending in 1991.

Sister Rosemary served her CSJ community as the aging consultant coordinator at for 11 years ending in 2003.

From 2003 to 2005 she was on sabbatical.

She moved to Charleston, South Carolina in 2005 and served at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital in clinical pastoral education. In 2006 Sister Rosemary was Chaplain and in 2012 as the manager of pastoral care. In 2017 she retired to St. Louis, Missouri and volunteered.

In 2023, Sister Rosemary answered the call to serve her CSJ community once again. She now serves her sisters as the Co-Director of CSJ Community Life at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
