Sister Maria Jeanne Tipton, CSJ

Sister Maria Jeanne Tipton, known to her family as Jeannie, was born in Illinois. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1964 and was received into the novitiate in 1965. She received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 1968, from Fontbonne College, (now University) in St. Louis, and a master’s degree in mathematics in 1973, from Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana.

Sister Maria Jeanne taught for nine years at St. Joseph’s Academy in St. Louis, beginning in 1968. She taught at the Academy of Our Lady/Spalding in Peoria, Illinois in 1977. For the next several years, she taught at the former St. Thomas Aquinas High School.

In 1987, she completed a Certificate of Proficiency in Data Processing from St. Louis Community College and worked for many years in data processing.

From 2019 to 2023, Sister Maria Jeanne served her CSJ community as a province councilor. She is currently serving her CSJ community as the assistant to the treasurer in the Finance Office.
