70th Jubilee
Sister Carol Olson was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1955 and was received into the novitiate in 1956 as Sister Mary Damian. She received a bachelor’s degree in biology from the College of St. Catherine, St. Paul in 1965.
Sister Carol was a radiologic technology student at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Paul from 1960 to 1962. She was the radiology director at St. Michael Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota, from 1962 to 1967. The next year, she served as a radiologic technologist at St. Paul Ramsey Hospital in St. Paul. In 1968, she began her seven-year service as the radiology director at the St. Joseph Hospital in Kirkwood, Missouri.
She served one year as team minister at Mosses Catholic Center in Hayneville, Alabama.
Sister Carol returned to St. Joseph Hospital in Kirkwood in 1978 and served there for the next 33 years. She was the radiology director (1978-92), business clerk (1993) and registrar (1993-2009). She continued serving as registrar when St. Joseph’s Hospital was renamed St. Clare Hospital and relocated to Fenton, Missouri.
Sister Carol retired in 2012 and continues to live out her mission of prayer and presence.
