She received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Avila College, Kansas City, Missouri, in 1971 and received master’s degrees in religious studies from the University of San Francisco in 1977 and in theological studies from the Jesuit School of Theology in 1990.

In the early 1990s, Sister Barbara brought many gifts to her community in St. Louis, serving as co-director of vocation education, assistant to the province leader and then as province director. A major accomplishment of this time was the renovation of the Carondelet Motherhouse and Holy Family Chapel.

Sister Barbara shared her experience of higher education when she served as chancellor at Fontbonne University in St. Louis. She was invited back to community ministry as director of mission advancement for the St. Louis province. Sister Barbara served on the Congregational Leadership Team from 2014 to 2020. Since 2023, she has resided at Nazareth Living Center, carrying out her ministry of prayer and presence.
