70th Jubilee

Sister Rose Marie Boyanchek, CSJ

A native of St. Louis, Missouri Sister Rose Marie Boyanchek entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1953 and received the habit and name Sister Mary Lucy. She completed her degree in education from Fontbonne College (now University) in 1966.

Sister Rose Marie began teaching grade school here in the St. Louis area at Holy Guardian Angels, St. Leo, St. Patrick, St. Cecilia, St. Gregory and St. Thomas of Aquin. She moved to Illinois, where she taught at St. Cecilia School in Peoria and St. Viator School in Chicago.

For ten years, she served as a childcare provider and teacher of deaf education at St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf when it was located in University City, Missouri. In 1984, Sister served as a library assistant at Immacolata Grade School for a year. One of her most satisfying ministries was serving as a Nanny to various families in the St. Louis area for twelve years.

At the same time, she ministered in crafts and sewing at Nazareth Living Center and at Carondelet Day Care Center both located here in St. Louis. In 1993, she began working for All Metro Health Care while continuing her ministry of crafts, sewing and crocheting until her retirement in 2019.

Being retired has allowed her to pursue some new interests, which include playing the piano, embroidering, tatting and crafts of all kinds, and playing card games.

She is also an excellent example of being faithful to her mission of prayer and presence at Nazareth.
