Sister Kathleen Mlinar, CSJ

Sister Kathleen Mlinar was born in Marquette, Michigan. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1953 and was received into the novitiate in 1954 as Sister John Marian. She received a bachelor's degree in history from Fontbonne College (now University), St. Louis in 1963 and a master's degree in American history from Marquette University, Milwaukee in 1969.

In 1956, Sister Kathleen began her teaching ministry teaching in St. Louis at St. Philip Neri until 1960. She then taught at St. Thomas of Aquin Grade School until 1963.

Sister Kathleen Mlinar went on to teach one year at the following schools: St. Joseph Grade School in West De Pere, Wisconsin; St. Joseph Grade School in Mariette, Georgia; and at Sacred Heart Grade School in Shawano, Wisconsin.

Sister Kathleen served as principal at St. Michael Grade School in Marquette, Michigan, from 1966 until 1969. She returned to teaching at Blessed Sacrament Grade School in Atlanta, Georgia, until 1976. She then went on to teach in Marquette, Michigan, at Bishop Baraga Central Grade School until 1987.

Sister Kathleen moved to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, in 1987 and served five years as a librarian, computer teacher and athletic director at St. Mary’s Grade School. She then served as secretary at St. John Neumann Middle School until 2000.

Moving to Appleton, Wisconsin, Sister Kathleen served as an instructional aide at Catholic Central Grade School until 2002, and then at St. Pius X until 2010.

Sister Kathleen retired in 2010 and continues to serve as a volunteer, in Appleton, Wisconsin. Among her interests are reading, solving Sudoku puzzles, and watching the Green Bay Packers.
