75th Jubliee
Sister Anna Margaret, baptized Helen Margaret, was born in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. She was received into the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1948. She earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Fontbonne College in 1967.
In 1950, Sister Anna served two years as general help at St. Joseph’s Home for Boys in St. Louis. She moved to Chicago, Illinois, in 1952 and taught for 10 years at St. Joseph Carondelet Child Center.
In 1962, Sister Anna taught at St. Paul Grade School in Negaunee, Michigan. A year later, she returned to St. Louis to teach elementary education at St. Jude Grade School until 1965 and then the next year at St. Joseph’s Home for Boys.
After completing her bachelor’s degree, Sister Anna Margaret served in the Archdiocese of St. Louis for the next 38 years. In 1967, she began teaching at St. Vincent de Paul Grade School and in 1969, moved to Most Holy Rosary. In 1975, she served as secretary at St. Louis Cathedral Grade School and in 1980, returned. She taught at St. Louis Saints John & James Grade School until 1987, before moving to Good Shepherd Grade until 2005.
Sister Anna retired in 2005. Since 2013, she has resided at Nazareth Living Center carrying out her mission of prayer and presence.
