Jubilarian 2021 - Sister Ann Landers

Sister Ann Landers, baptized Paula Ann, was born in Peoria, Illinois. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1960 and was received into the novitiate in 1961 as Sister Ann Raymond. She received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Fontbonne College in 1965 and a master’s degree in reading from University of Missouri, Kansas City in 1975. Sister Ann also received an administrator's certificate from the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana in 1984.

Sister Ann taught elementary school at St. Jude School in St. Louis (1965-66); St. Rose of Lima in Houston, Texas (1966-69); St. Rita School in St. Louis (1969-1975) and at Holy Cross in Champaign, Illinois (1975-1980). The next four years, Sister Ann was the principal at Holy Cross. She then moved to St. Bernard Grade School in Peoria, Illinois (1984-1989).

In Illinois, she served as both principal and teacher at St. Mary’s Grade school in Kickapoo (1989-1993) and as teacher at St. Edward’s in Chillicothe (1993-1995).

Since 1995, Sister Ann has served in Kansas City, Missouri. She taught at St. Thomas More Grade School (1995-1999) and at Holy Cross (1999-2001).

For the next 18 years, she served in home health care for CSJ Care, and was the director of that program from 2006 until the program’s closing in 2019. Today, she continues to be a caregiver for her remaining client.

Sister Ann volunteers at her church’s Senior Center and is a driver for several friends. She enjoys reading, gardening, walking, and socializing by means of phone calls, careful visits and emails.
