Sister Mary Patricia (Pat) Quinn was born in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Richard and Josephine (Moriarty) Quinn. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1959 and was received into the novitiate in 1960 as Sister Jane Richard. She earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Fontbonne College, St. Louis in 1964; a master’s degree in pastoral ministry from the Institute of Pastoral Ministry at Boston College, Boston in 1983. In 1999, S. Pat studied at Aquinas Institute in St. Louis and received a certificate in spiritual direction.

In the 1960s, she taught in St. Louis elementary schools Immacolata, St. Matthew and St. Cecilia. In the 1970s, she taught at Holy Angels in Indianapolis, Indiana, and Northeast Consolidated Catholic Schools (NCCS) in Kansas City, Kansas.

From 1977 to 1982, she served in rural Georgia in parish pastoral ministry and religious education. She continued to serve in parish pastoral ministry at St. Joseph parish in Zwolle, Louisiana, and St. Francis and St. Mary parishes in Yazoo, Mississippi.

In the 1990s, she was a consultant of ministry development for Glenmary Home Missioners in Nashville, Tennessee. As a member of a five-person team, she traveled across the southern part of the United States working with parishioners and local church leaders. Some years later, she was on staff at the Tutwiler Community Education Center (TCEC) in Tutwiler, Mississippi.

Upon returning to her hometown of Kansas City in 2002, S. Pat became available for spiritual direction/companioning through the CSJ-directed program named CSJ Care. From 2003 to 2006, she worked as the religious education director for St. Joseph the Worker parish in Ozark, Missouri.

From 2008 to 2017, S. Pat was a part-time pastoral care associate at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis. Many of the residents she served were fellow members of the CSJ community. Additionally, she served her CSJ community as novice director in 2006 and 2012.

Since 2017, S. Pat has been retired and takes advantage of the many volunteer opportunities. She lives in community at the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet Motherhouse in St. Louis.
