She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Fontbonne College in 1964 and master’s degrees in religious education from the University of St. Thomas, Houston, Texas, and adult Christian community development from Regis College in Denver in 1984.

Sister Kate began her ministry in the 1960s as a teacher at St. Michael Grade School in Marquette, Michigan; Notre Dame De Lourdes Grade School in Wellston, Missouri; and St. Catherine of Siena Grade School in Denver, Colorado.

In the 1970s, she served as a religious education consultant at the Archdiocesan Education Office of Denver and at the Religious Education Archdiocesan Office of Atlanta. From 1977 to 1983, Sister Kate served in rural Georgia as a parish pastoral minister and religious education coordinator.

Sister Kate continued to serve in parish pastoral ministry over a 16-year span, beginning at St. Joseph Parish in Zwoelle, Louisiana (1984-1985). She moved to the state of Mississippi and served at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in New Albany and St. Christopher Parish in Pontotoc (1985-1987). From 1987 to 1993, she served as a lay ecclesiastical minister at Sacred Heart Parish in Louisville and St. Therese Church, Kosciusko, also in Mississippi. She then moved to Colorado where she was pastoral minister at St. Therese Church in Aurora (1993-1994) and Our Lady of Mother of the Church in Commerce City (1994-1999).

She spent the next 11 years in Ripley, Mississippi, as a lay ecclesiastical minister in St. Matthew Parish working with Glenmary Home Missionaries and the Diocese of Jackson, Mississippi. While there, Sister Kate spearheaded and oversaw the building of a much needed new church.

Sister Kate retired to St. Louis in 2011. She resides at the Village at Nazareth and continues to volunteer.
