Jubilarian 2020 - Sister Kathleen Eiler

Sister Kathleen Eiler was born in St. Louis, Missouri. She taught in schools in the Archdiocese of St. Louis from 1965 until entering the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1979. She was then received into the novitiate in 1980. Sister Kathleen earned a bachelor’s degree in American studies from Notre Dame College of St. Louis in 1974 and a master’s in elementary education administration from St. Mary’s College in Winona, Minnesota, in 1988.

Sister Kathleen continued to serve in elementary education for 22 more years in the Archdiocese of St. Louis. From 1981 to 1985, she taught at Valle Grade School in Ste. Genevieve, St. Cecilia Grade School and St. Adalbert School in St. Louis. During the next four years she taught at St. Louis Cathedral Grade School, serving the last year as assistant principal and religion coordinator.

From 1989 to 1997, Sister Kathleen served as principal at Corpus Christi District School in Jennings, Missouri. She was the principal at Sts. Joachim and Ann School in St. Charles from 1997 to 2002.

After a brief sabbatical, she ministered as a staff member in the Province Treasurer’s Office from 2003 from 2006. Then, she spent two years as an office assistant at St. Joseph’s Academy in St. Louis, followed by two years providing home service through CSJ Care. Sister Kathleen also served her CSJ community in vocation/formation ministry from 2010 to 2014.

For many years, she has provided homemade jellies and bread-and-butter pickles at the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet Motherhouse and the Nazareth Living Center Gift Shop.

Sister Kathleen resides in St. Louis and is currently a spiritual companion.
