Owner/Pharmacist, Winkelmann Sons Drug
St. Louis, Missouri
Dan Winkelmann uses his gifts, both material and spiritual, for the good of the dear neighbor in all things that he does: pharmacist, traveling medical missionary, board member, volunteer, parishioner and CSJ associate. As pharmacist and owner of Winkelmann Sons Drug, Dan continues the 107-year-old family tradition of providing a personal commitment to its customers in the St. Louis community, including the Sisters of St. Joseph, by offering the best resources and expertise. For many years, the Winkelmanns have delivered medications to the Carondelet Motherhouse with a special discount to the sisters. They also provide them to the residents and sisters at Nazareth Living Center.
“I have experienced many times when Dan would deliver medications after he left work, so that an individual would not have to wait until the next day,” says Sister Suzanne Giro, former mentor and work colleague of Dan’s.
Another one of Dan’s loves is his yearly trips to Nepal. As part of a medical team, he travels for three weeks to tend to the sick in the remote areas of the country. He brings the medications and supplies needed in the administration of the health care.
Dan has also been involved in many organizations as a board member and volunteer including the Nazareth Foundation, CHADS Coalition for the prevention of depression and suicide in teens, mission advisory of the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood, St. Louis College of Pharmacy Alumni Board, Arts St. Louis, chairperson of St. Louis Art Fair, plus many roles of ministry and service in his parish, Mary, Mother of the Church.
