Qtr Gathering 11 16 24

By MarySue Rosenthal Gee, CSJA

On November 16th we had our associates and sisters quarterly gathering at St. Joseph Academy, thanks to Andy and Katie Lodes. We had 46 individuals that showed up for this event, which is our largest yet. The energy and spirit in the room was wonderful.

Our guest speaker was Maggie Burke from Keyway Center for Diversion & Reentry. Keyway’s mission is to advocate and assist women in the criminal justice system to support their successful transition to family and community. Maggie brought a game for us to play called Pathways to Possibilities: Keyway the Reentry Experience. Play together. Learn together. This really helped everyone to put ourselves in the shoes of what it means to be coming out of prison and trying to adjust.

Lori Fick, CSJA also gave a short presentation on the Okolona Mission in Mississippi. They are looking for volunteers to help out with tutoring children, working in the Resale Store, helping at the women’s shelter, gardening, weeding and trimming bushes. They also need help painting inside homes, artistic painting and cleaning. Lori is working to find a time for groups to go down and volunteer.

Our next quarterly meeting will be February 15th at Nazareth Living Center from 9 a.m. to noon. At this meeting, the Racial and Cultural Committee will be presenting their Pilgrimage to Mobile and Montgomery, Alabama that they did in October. Hope to see you there.
