Sister Pauline Komrska, CSJ 1926-2020

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sister Pauline Komrska who passed away on January 28 at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis. She was 95 years of age.

Sister Pauline Komrska, baptized Dorothy Frances, was born on March 4, 1926, in St. Louis to parents Albert Joseph and Anna (Malecek) Komrska. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet on February 11, 1947, and was received into the novitiate on August 15, 1947, as Sister Paul Christine.

Sister Pauline began her 50-plus year ministry in education in the St. Louis Archdiocese at St. Mary Magdalene (1949-1951), St. Patrick (1951-1955) and St. Mary (1955-1958) grade schools. She continued at the high school level, teaching mathematics and English at Sacred Heart Central, Indianapolis (1958-1967); Little Flower, Chicago (1967-1968); and St. Thomas Aquinas, Florissant (1968-1984).

In 1984, Sister Pauline began 19 years of ministry in religious education at the following parishes in Northern California: St. Vincent, Petaluma (1984-1986); St. Isidore, Danville (1986-1997); and St. Simon, Los Altos (1997-2003).

Returning to St. Louis in 2003, Sister Pauline worked as a secretary at the Jesuit White House Retreat Center on West Pine Boulevard. From 2004 to 2016, she ministered as the assistant librarian at St. Joseph’s Academy.

She then retired and continued to volunteer her time and energy, reaching out to the dear neighbor. In 2019, she moved to Nazareth Living Center and carried out her ministry of prayer and presence.
