Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sister Patricia Ann Hauser, who passed away on April 19, 2021, at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis, Missouri. She was 81 years of age.

Sister Patricia Ann Hauser was born on August 4, 1939, in Schell City, Missouri, to parents Frank L. and Agnes Cecilia (Hatfield) Hauser. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1959 and was received into the novitiate in 1960 as Sister Cecilia Francis. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Mt. St. Mary College, Los Angles in 1964 and a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Missouri, Columbia in 1983.

Sister Pat served in the nursing field for over 46 years in California, Michigan, Wisconsin, Missouri and Alabama.

She began her 60 years of ministry as a nursing student at Mt. St. Mary College (1962-1964). She continued her nursing education at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City the following year, and then served as a staff nurse from 1965 to 1966. She went on to serve at St. Joseph Community Hospital in Hancock, Michigan, for the next six years as a nursing educator (1966-1969) and head nurse (1969-1972).

From 1972 to 1974, Sister Pat was a staff nurse at St. Joseph Hospital-Center for Life in Augusta, Georgia.

After continuing education in nursing from 1974 to 1975 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she was a resident at Mt. Carmen Convent from 1975 to 1977. The following year, she was a staff nurse at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City.

Sister Pat was a health care pastoral minister at Mansfield Parish in Mansfield, Missouri, from 1978 to 1981. After more study at the University of Missouri-Columbia from 1981 to 1983, she served as a nursing educator at Avila University from 1984 to 1990.

In 1991, Sister Pat began her 19-year long ministry as a family nurse practitioner at Vredenburgh Health Center in Vredenburgh, Alabama. After a year of retirement, she returned to serve as a nurse practitioner in Selma, Alabama, at Yellow Bluff Health Center from 2011 to 2013 as well as volunteering at Camden Drug Company in Camden, Alabama.

Sister Pat retired in 2013. Beginning in 2016, she resided at Nazareth Living Center, carrying out her mission of prayer and presence.
