Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sister Leo Ann Bub, who passed away on July 31 at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis, Missouri. She was 92.

Sister Leo Ann Bub, baptized Theresa Rose, was born on February 16, 1927, in St. Louis to parents Joseph and Ellen J. (McNamee) Bub. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1945 and was received into the novitiate in 1946. She received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Fontbonne College in 1957 and a master’s in elementary education from St. Louis University in 1967.

More than 40 years of Sister Leo Ann’s ministry were served in grade school education.

She began teaching in 1948 in St. Louis at Our Lady of the Presentation. Her other St. Louis assignments in the 1950s and 60s were at St. Roch and Most Holy Rosary. She also taught in Chicago, Illinois, at St. Viator. Returning to the St. Louis Archdiocese in 1964, she taught at Nativity Grade School in St. Louis and Ste. Genevieve Grade School in Ste. Genevieve.

In 1967, Sister Leo Ann became principal at St. Roch Grade School. She dedicated herself to this role for the next 24 years, making a significant contribution to the school community.

After her work in the classroom, Sister Leo Ann served in a variety of roles at Cardinal Ritter Senior Services in the Mary Queen of Mother Center including receptionist, administrative secretary and gift shop manager from 1991 to 2001. She also served briefly as a teaching assistant at Growing Footprints. She retired in 2002 while continuing volunteer work.

In 2011, Sister Leo Ann moved to Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis, where she carried out her ministry of prayer and presence.

The funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 10 a.m. at Nazareth Living Center, 2 Nazareth Lane, St. Louis, MO 63129. Sister Leo Ann donated her body to science.
