Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sister Jane Frances Behlmann, who passed away on December 15, 2018 at De Greeff Hospice House in St. Louis. She was 72 years of age.
Sister Jane was born on January 21, 1946, in St. Charles, Missouri, to parents Joseph Raymond and Frances Helen (Henke) Behlmann. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph on August 6, 1964, was received as Sister Frances Joseph, and made her final profession on August 6, 1971.
Sister Jane began her 55 years of ministry in education. She first taught music at St. Luke the Evangelist Grade School in St. Louis from 1968 to 1971. Then, for the next five years, she taught music at multiple schools throughout the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
In 1976, S. Jane served as the audiovisual librarian at Fontbonne College/University. She remained in that position for the following 28 years.
In 2004, she went on to serve her CSJ community as archivist for the St. Louis province. This past summer, she took on the additional task of consolidating the Albany, Los Angeles/Hawaii and St. Louis provinces’ and the Congregational Office’s archives of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in one place and became director of the newly formed Carondelet Consolidated Archive, located on the St. Louis province campus.
A celebration of Sister Jane’s life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 22 at the Carondelet Motherhouse in Holy Family Chapel, 6400 Minnesota Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63111. There will be a time of remembrance at 10 a.m., followed by a prayer service at 11 a.m.
