Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sister James Patrick Corbett who passed away on Nov. 4 at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis, Missouri. She was 93 years old.

Sister James Patrick, baptized Rosemary Adeline, was born in St. Louis, Missouri. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1946 and was received into the novitiate in 1947. She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the College of St. Teresa (now Avila University) in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1958.

In 1949, Sister James Patrick began teaching in St. Louis at St. Joseph’s Home for Boys and St. Anthony of Padua Grade School.

She taught at St. Elizabeth Grade School in Kansas City, Missouri, in the 1950s; at St. Francis de Sales Grade School in Denver from 1958 to 1966; and at Notre Dame de Lourdes Grade School in Wellston, Missouri, until 1972.

Returning to St. Louis, Sister James Patrick taught once again at St. Anthony of Padua (1972-1979) and St. Joseph’s Home for Boys, where she taught for a year and then served as a tutor from 1980 to 1988.

In 1988, she began 17 years of service for her Sisters of St. Joseph community as a staff member in the treasury office at the St. Joseph Provincial House.

Sister James Patrick retired in 2005. Since 2006, she had lived at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis where she carried out her ministry of prayer and presence.

A Funeral Mass is planned for Thursday, Nov. 7 at 10 a.m., with the viewing at 9 a.m., at Nazareth Living Center Chapel, 2 Nazareth Lane, St. Louis, MO 63129. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
