Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sister Jacqueline Dillon who passed away on May 1, 2020, at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis, Missouri. She was 82 years old.

Sister Jacqueline was born on April 6, 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri, to parents William F. and Catherine (Larkin) Dillon. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1959 and was received into the novitiate in 1960 as Sister Marie Brendan. She earned a bachelor’s degree in secretarial science from Fontbonne College in 1964, a master’s degree in education from Indiana University in 1970, and a doctorate in higher education administration from Indiana University in 1975, where she also supervised student teachers in the southern Indiana region.

Sister Jacqueline began her ministry work as a junior high teacher at St. Francis Xavier Grade School in Brunswick, Georgia, in 1964. The following year, she taught at St. Francis de Sales High School in Denver, Colorado.

Sister Jacqueline went on to teach at Valle High School in St. Genevieve, Missouri, until 1968. She then taught at St. Teresa’s Academy in Kansas City until 1970, at which time she also earned her master’s from Indiana University. She returned to Valle High School and taught there for three more years. From 1973 to 1975, she continued her studies at Indiana University once more.

After earning her doctorate in 1975, Sister Jacqueline was a faculty member at St. Louis Community College—Meramec for nearly a year. Then, in 1976, she served as the executive director of residents at Kirkwood House for Older Adults until 1979. For the remainder of that year, she was the program director/coordinator at St. Louis Area Agency on Aging.

In 1980, she began a 23-year career at Harris-Stowe State University as an associate professor (1980-95) and professor of education (1995-2003). Sister Jacqueline went on to serve her CSJ community as a provincial councilor from 2002 to 2008, as well as an aging consultant/coordinator from 2003 to 2006, for the St. Louis province. She was then a professor at Harris-Stowe for a few months, thereafter.

Since 2011, Sister Jacqueline resided at Nazareth Living Center, carrying out her ministry of prayer and presence.
