Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sister Charline Sullivan who passed away on May 12, 2020, at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis, Missouri. She was 91 years of age.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Fontbonne College in St. Louis in 1965 and a master’s degree in elementary education from St. Louis University in 1971.

Sister Charline devoted nearly 40 years of ministry to elementary education.

She began in 1949 at Visitation Grade School in Kansas City, Missouri. In the 1950s, she taught at a number of grade schools: Immaculate Conception in St. Joseph, Missouri; Our Lady of Guadalupe in Kansas City, Missouri; and St. Michael’s in Marquette, Michigan.

In the 1960s, she taught at St. Patrick’s in Rolla, Missouri; Notre Dame de Lourdes in Wellston, Missouri; and, again, at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Kansas City.

From 1966 to 1976, she was an administrator and teacher at Nativity of Our Lord Grade School in St. Louis.

Sister Charline then went on to serve her Sisters of St. Joseph community at the St. Joseph Provincial House in St. Louis as the elementary education coordinator from 1976 to 1978. She continued that position and was also the personnel service staff member from 1978 to 1980.

In the 1980s, she returned to elementary education in St. Louis as an administrator at Nativity of Our Lord and St. Adalbert Grade Schools. She completed her service in education at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School.

For the next 29 years, from 1987 to 2016, Sister Charline worked in the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, St. Louis Province archives in a variety of capacities. During that time, she was also an archivist for the Federation of the Sisters of St. Joseph (1992-2004).

She then retired to Nazareth Living Center where she carried out her ministry of prayer and presence.
