Sister Barbara Moore Honored with Scholarship Program in Her Name

Barbara Moore 2021 RS

St. Teresa’s Academy (STA) honored Sister Barbara Moore with a scholarship program in her name. The first of its kind at STA, the Sister Barbara Moore Scholarship Program offers more young Black women the opportunity to benefit from STA’s premier education and introduces them to the many possibilities available in STEAM-related fields (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics). The first African American to enter the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, Sister Barbara has devoted her life to being a leader for women of color and has spent her career serving in nursing, a STEAM-related field.

“The STA family will be enriched as well as the scholarship recipients,” says Sister Barbara. “We live in a world of increasing diversity. Relationships can help dispel stereotypes, prejudices and narrow mindedness. I hope the scholarship recipients will be successful and generous with their talents and gifts for future students  and for society at large.”
