Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sister Aline Mohrhaus, CSJ who passed away on February 15 at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis, Missouri. She was 89 years of age.

Sister Aline Mohrhaus was born on April 29, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to parents Robert John and Flora Theresa (Alerding) Mohrhaus. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1948, and was received into the novitiate as Sister Mary Bonaventure in 1949. She received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Fontbonne College in 1959 and a master’s degree as a reading specialist from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1974.

Sister Aline served in education for nearly 58 years. She taught elementary education at St. Joseph Industrial School in Keshena, Wisconsin (1951-1952); Immacolata (1952-1954), St. Margaret of Scotland (1954-1960), and St. Jude (1960-1963), all in St. Louis; St. Louis in Waco, Texas (1963-1967); St. Anthony of Padua (1967-1969) in St. Louis; St. Elizabeth in Kansas City, Missouri (1969-1971); St. Mary in Bridgeton, Missouri (1971-1980); St. Michael in Marquette, Michigan (1980-1981); St. Clare of Assisi in Ellisville, Missouri (1981-1983); St. Cletus in St. Charles, Missouri (1983-1985); and Our Lady of Lourdes in Raytown, Missouri (1985-1992).

After a nearly two-year sabbatical, S. Aline served the next 15 years in Kansas City. At St. Thomas More Grade School, she was as a teacher’s aide (1994-1998), kindergarten teacher (1998-2000), and a volunteer teacher (2001-2009). During this period, she served as a library aide at St. Teresa’s Academy (2000-2001). She was also a licensed massage therapist and practiced from 2001 to 2009.

Since 2009, Sister Aline had resided at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis where she continued to carry out her ministry of prayer and presence.

Sister Aline Mohrhaus, CSJ donated her body to science. Her memorial mass will at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 24 at the Nazareth Living Center, located at 2 Nazareth Lane, St. Louis, MO 63129.
