Marching for love of neighbor without distinction

On Sun., June 30, a group of sisters, associates and friends marched for the CSJ community in the St. Louis' Pride Parade. Parade goers cheered and expressed their gratitude for being a loving and welcoming presence in the church.

Associate Mary Mertzlufft says of the march, "As we waved to the crowds, I thought how accepted they felt knowing the sisters who cared for those in need in the past still cared."

The outpouring of support continued on Facebook, with many user comments about what our presence meant to them. For example: "The Sisters of St. Joseph are some caring, caring people in a world that seems to have forgotten how to care," and "What a loving and life-affirming action. A big YES and THANK YOU to the CSJ community."

Our participation in the march is in direct response to our 2013 Acts of Chapter that states we commit ourselves to: "stand in solidarity with and support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) persons in our quest for inclusion and justice, knowing that Jesus welcomed everyone to the table respecting the dignity of every human person."
