Associate Ophelia Wilson Awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award

Associate Ophelia Wilson was presented with the St. Charles Lwanga Center’s 2021 Father Edward Feuerbacher Lifetime Achievement Award for her service in the St. Louis community. The Lwanga Center is the St. Louis Archdiocese’s Office of Black Catholic Ministries. It honored leaders in the African American Catholic community from sponsoring parishes and the wider archdiocese. 

A member of St. Nicholas Parish, Ophelia remained active throughout the pandemic by helping her dear neighbor in various ways including sewing more than 500 face masks and donating them to various organizations, and by providing regular home visits to the sick or homebound. She is Grand Lady of the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies’ Auxiliary Tekakwitha Court #68 at St. Nicholas. 

In addition, Ophelia serves as a mentor to young people earning their GED and is involved with the Lwanga Center, the National Black Catholic Congress, Nia Kuumba Spirituality Center and other organizations.
