Sister Jeanne was born in Evanston, Illinois, and moved to Atlanta, Georgia, with her family when she was in seventh grade. She was received into the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, Georgia Province in 1958 as Sister Mary Teresita. In 1964, she received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota, and, in 1979, a master’s degree in nursing as a family nurse practitioner from the Medical College of Georgia.
Sister Jeanne served over 40 years in nursing, working as a staff nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Augusta, Georgia (1964-66 and 1968-69); as a nurse supervisor at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri (1966-68); as a staff nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Atlanta (1969-71); and as the night supervisor at St. Joseph Hospital in Augusta, Georgia (1971-79).
After completion of her master’s degree, Sister Jeanne served the next 25 years as a nurse practitioner doing primary care in a neighborhood clinic of Grady Hospital in Atlanta. During that time, from 1996 to 2002, she served her CSJ community as a provincial councilor for the St. Louis province. In 2006, she began nine years as an administrative assistant with Catholic Charities Atlanta.
Sister Jeanne retired to St. Louis in 2015 and is a volunteer.
