S. Roberta Schmidt

Sister Roberta Schmidt, CSJ

 

Biographical:

Sister Roberta J. Schmidt was born in Kansas City, Missouri.  She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1949 and was received into the novitiate in 1950 as Sister Ernest Marie. She received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the College of St. Teresa in 1949, a master’s degree in sociology from St. Louis University in 1958 and a doctorate in sociology from St. Louis University in 1964.

 

Service in the Archdiocese of St. Louis:

Sister Roberta taught at numerous archdiocesan schools in the 1950s and 1960s: St. Margaret of Scotland School, St. Agnes School, St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Valle High School, and St. Anthony High School.  In the 1960s and 1970s Sister served at Fontbonne University both as faculty member and as president. She also served her CSJ community as provincial councilor from 1996 to 2002.

 

Service outside the Archdiocese: 

Sister has held a variety of educational administration positions in Alabama, Texas, Georgia and Florida.

Sister Roberta is currently retired and in volunteer ministry in Venice, Florida.
