Sister Mary Clare was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1986 and was received into the novitiate in 1987. She received a bachelor’s degree in human services from Fontbonne College in 1992 and a master’s degree in social work from St. Louis University in 1996.

In the St. Louis area, Sister Mary Clare served as the secretary in the education department at Fontbonne College from 1989-1992. She served as a social worker at Lutheran Family and Children Services (1996-2003), Odyssey Health Care (2003) and SSM Hospice (2003-2008).

Sister Mary Clare is currently serving as a bereavement counselor at Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care in Colorado Springs, Colo.

She enjoys traveling, trekking in the mountains, spending time with family and friends, and reading.
