Sister Mary Ann was born in Rich Fountain, Missouri. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1961 and was received into the novitiate in 1962 as Sister Rita Anthony. She received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Fontbonne College in 1966 and a master’s degree in education administration from North Eastern Illinois University in 1984.

A career educator, Sister Mary Ann served 33 years at schools in Wisconsin, Michigan, Indianapolis, Illinois, and Missouri. In the St. Louis area, she taught at Compton Heights School in the 1970s and was the principal at Holy Rosary School in Warrenton from 1991-2003.

Since 2004 she has served in the Community Life Office at Nazareth Living Center in Oakville where she ministers to the sisters in residence.
