S. Jeanne Rene Mercier

Sister Jeanne Rene Mercier, CSJ

 

Biographical:

Sister Jeanne Rene Mercier, baptized Genevieve, was born in Kingsford, Michigan.  She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1949 and was received into the novitiate in 1950.  She received a bachelor’s degree in education from Fontbonne College.

 

Service:
Sister Jeanne Rene taught for the first 25 years of her ministry in catholic schools through out St. Louis, Chicago, Wisconsin, Michigan and Indiana.   Beginning in 1978 she began her work in parish ministry in Marquette, Michigan.  Sister devoted 30 years of her life in service to the Dioceses of Marquette.   Sister served in home bound parish ministry to the sick and elderly at St. Peter Cathedral Parish, Marquette General Hospital, Veterans facility and nursing homes.

Sister retired to Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis in 2009 where she continues to carry out her ministry of prayer and witness.
