Sister Charlotte, baptized Dorothy, was born in Augusta, Ga. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1911 and was received into the novitiate in 1942. She received a bachelor’s degree in education from the College of St. Rose, New York in 1960 and a master’s degree in education from St. Louis University in 1968.
Nearly all of Sister Charlotte's 70 years of service as a Sister of St. Joseph were committed to teaching in Georgia. Beginning in the 1940s, Sister taught at schools including St. Joseph Male Orphanage, St. John the Evangelist, St. Anthony School, Sacred Heart, St. Joseph Grade School and High School, and Aquinas High School.
Outside of the Georgia area, Sister taught at St. Joseph’s Academy in Green Bay, Wisconsin in the late 1960s to 1970s.
Sister Charlotte retired in 2003 and lives in South Carolina where she continues to serve in volunteer ministry.
