Sister Alice was born in Unity, Wisc. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1941 and was received into the novitiate in 1942 as Sister John Chrysostom. She received a bachelor’s degree in home economics from Fontbonne College in 1960 and a master’s degree in education from St. Louis University in 1966.

Sister Alice dedicated her 50 years of service to teaching and education, serving at 10 schools located in Wisconsin, Missouri, and Colorado.

In the Archdiocese of St. Louis, Sister served in the 1950s and 60s at Holy Name School, St. Anthony of Padua Grade School, St. Barnabas School and St. Rita School where she was the principal.

Since 2001 Sister Alice has resided at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis where she continues to carry out her ministry of prayer and witness.
