Then the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor
with God. (Lk 1: 27)
Can I hear the angel’s words, “Do not be afraid,” as words of wisdom and inspiration in my life?
Monday, Dec. 19
Judges 13: 2-7, 24-25a; Luke 1: 5-25
The angel replied, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news.” (Lk 1: 19)
Tuesday, Dec. 20
Is 7: 10-14; Luke 1: 26-38
Look, the young woman is with child and shall bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel. (Is 7:14)
Immanuel, “God with us,” be with me as I discern your plans for me.

“And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her by the Lord.” (Lk 1: 45)
Do I recognize the ways God’s plan is being fulfilled through me?

“My sould magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” (Lk 1: 46-47)
How can I, like Mary, find ways to magnify the Lord and rejoice in God my Savior?

Thus says the Lord to Israel: “See, I am sending my messenger to prepare the way before me.” (Malachi 3: 1)
Am I prepared to receive the Lord into my heart and to make a place for God’s work in the world?
Saturday, Dec. 24
2 Sam 7: 1-5, 8b-12, 14a, 16; Luke 1: 67-79
By the tender mercy of our God, the dawn from on high will break upon us, to give light ` to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” (Lk 1:78-79)
May we who walked in darkness see the great light of Christ’s presence.
WEEK THREE
Sunday, Dec. 11
Is 61: 1-2a, 10-11; Thes 5: 16-24; John 1: 6-8, 19-28
Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. (Thes 5: 16)
What can I do today to help me and those around me to rejoice in God

The angel said, “With God nothing in impossible.” (Lk 1: 38)
Today, I am reminded that does God make all things possible, as Juan Diego
discovered in his encounter with Our Lady of Guadalupe.

“At that time I will change the speech of the peoples to a pure speech, that all of them may call on the name of the Lord and serve God with one accord.” (Zeph 3: 9)
How can my community of faith serve God with one accord at this time?

“Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. (Is 45: 22)
What makes it difficult for me to turn my heart and mind completely to God today?

“…my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you. (Is 54: 10)
How am I experiencing God’s steadfast love in my life?

How can my action and words reflect the prophet proclaiming, “Prepare the way of the Lord” today?

Say to those who are of a fearful heart, “Be strong, do not fear!” (Is 35: 4)
What fear or anxiety do I need to place in God’s care today?
Tuesday, Dec. 6

“Comfort, O comfort my people,” says your God. (Is 40: 1)
Today, I will take comfort in God’s loving care for me and for all God’s people.
Wednesday, Dec. 7
“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. (Mt. 11: 28)
Do I really believe that God will help me carry my burdens?
Is there some way I can assist someone today to make their burden lighter?

“Then Mary said, “Here am I…let it be with me according to your word.” (Lk 1:38)
Mary, help me to follow your example today to be open to all God’s asks of me.

“I am the Lord your God, who teaches you for your own good, who leads you in the way you should go.” (Is 48: 17)
How do I experience God leading me and my community in the way we should go?”

Can I feel the words of the prophets burning like a torch in my heart?
And how can I act on this word that lights a fire within me?

Jesus said to his disciples: "Be watchful! Be alert! (Mark 13: 33). Who or what can I be more attentive to in my life today?

They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning
hooks; One nation shall not raise the sword against another, nor shall they train for war again. (Is 2:4). In what way am I able to bring peace to my life, my community or to the world?

“Blessed are the eyes that see what you see! For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it.” (Luke 10:24). What insights or inspiration are stirring in my heart today?

…he took the seven loaves and fish; and after giving thanks he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. And all of them ate and were filled. (Mt 15:36). Do I trust that God will provide for me and for my community now and in the future?

“Trust in the Lord forever, for in the Lord God you have an everlasting rock.”
(Is 26:4). What worry or problem can I hand over to my God, my everlasting rock today?

Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you.” And their eyes were opened. (Mt 9: 29). How can I experience God at work today helping me to see in new ways?
Saturday, Dec. 3
Is 30:19-21, 23-26; Mt 9:35-10:1, 5a, 6-8
And when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left, you ears shall he word behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” (Is 30: 21). Unsure of the path to take at this time in my life, can I hear the voice of God saying to me: “This is the way, walk in it?
