2010 Generosity of Joseph Honors Gala: Friday, April 30

to benefit the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph and their ministries seving women and children at risk.

The Generosity of Joseph honor is presented annually to one or more individuals or organizations whose generous life/service exhibit one or more of the following qualities: heals and reconciles, serves others without distinction, recognizes and defends the human dignity of all, cares for creation and promotes justice with a particular concern for the poor.

This year's honorees are:

Corliss J. DuBois Cox, CSJA
Advocates for Youth
Corliss is the senior youth ministry coordinator for the St. Charles Lwanga Center of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Almost 25 years ago she transitioned from the corporate arena realizing the responsibilities and rewards of parenthood had become her top priority. Shortly thereafter, she discovered her true calling--youth ministry. Since that time she has been an advocate for the youth. Instilling and promoting spiritual, economical, academic, social and cultural development of youth and young adults has been her mission. She is also an associate member of the Sisters of St. Joseph.

Richard and Barbara Hammond
Care for the Children of Haiti
Richard and Barbara founded the Friends of the Children in Haiti (FOTCOH) in 1991, after six years of organizing and overseeing a yearly medical mission to Haiti thorugh their parish. FOTCOH is a non-profit which provides critical care for the most vulnerable people on earth. Barbara personally directs a child sponsorship program which provides food, education and health care for Haiti's children.

Thomas and Kathleen Gunn
Advocates for Faith-based Education, Health care and Social Services
Tom and Kate Gunn make a direct and systemic difference in the lives of individuals and faith-based education, health care and social service agencies and institutions thorugh their countless hours of volunteering time and providing board expertise and leadership. Their commitment advocates for basic human rights and opportunities that serve so many people, including the marginalized.
