NOVEMBER 19
Camp Hamilton
Nov. 19, 1898
Dear Rev. Mother [Agatha Guthrie]
We are still at Camp Hamilton waiting orders. When we are to start I do not know. The time seems so dreary and long having nothing to do. No Mass since last Sunday morning and very probably no Mass tomorrow morning. Soldiers, I presume, are exempt when in the Army and I suppose we are included as long as we are in the field. You never saw such a lonely place as the Camping grounds are--everything burnt up except our Pavilion and Commissary. Surely we cannot remain here many more days. All the nurses and Sisters of Holy Cross are still here. Sr. Bonaventure [Nolan] wrote today saying her Mother was very low. All the sisters here keep pretty well, notwithstanding the entire change of living. We followed our community exercises this week to the letter. How is Mother Alexandria's face? Has it improved? I hope it has. Love to you and to each of the dear sisters. May God bless you ever is the prayer of
Your devoted child,
