Mother Liguori [McNamara]
Dear Mother:
The interest you always manifested in my welfare prompts me to write you and let you know that I got home safe and well. Although not mustered out yet, the Archbishop assigned me to take charge of a small parish at Tuxedo Park, a very pretty place, 38 miles from New York. This appointment is only for the short time. The pastor may be in Europe, whither he is going for the good of his health. I hope you have met Fr. Doyle, the Paulist, before this. In speaking to the Archbishop about your great work, he said he would write Father Doyle and ask him to call on you.
Many a time have I thought of you and Matanzas and wished myself back there again. I must say that my stay in Camp was a very pleasant one and I owe it much to you, for you encouraged me in every way by word and example. I hope this letter will reach you at Matanzas. Please write me when you are coming home. Hoping you and all the Sisters are well, I remain,
Yours affectionately in Christ,
