My dearest Mother [Agatha Guthrie]:
The rumor today is confirmed. The soldiers received their papers to make out their discharges, and they are delighted. We have not been told anything about our returning with the regiment. The New York soldiers tell us we must go to the City of New York with them and share in the reception they are to get when they return home.
