MARCH 10

Friday March 10, 1899

Dear Mother [Agatha Guthrie]:

I forgot to tell you the Spanish speaking priest is gone to Cienfuegos, Cuba. There is another Dominican father there. Father Bader thinks he went there for the company. The Spanish priest wrote home to his Superior there were no provisions made for his reception in Matanzas as Father Bader told him he would pay his board for a week at the Hotel until his tent was ready. This Prior wrote to some of the generals. The general sent the letter to some one else. That somebody sent it to Matanzas. That soul sent it to Father Bader. All that talking for the whim of one individual. It reminds me very much of my case of one of my daughters that needs as much attention. Her wants are never satisfied. Order came this morning to muster the 12th New York out so they expect to leave for home in three weeks. It has been quite cool for the last three days. We are expecting the Hospital Ship to come and take a few of our sickest patients. Good-bye, dear Mother. Excuse paper, it is all I have.

Affectionately,

Sr. Liguori [McNamara]
