Terry Barber Fills Souls with Christmas Spirit

On Dec. 11, “Christmas Presence” overflowed in the Holy Family Chapel of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet (CSJs) as internationally-acclaimed countertenor Terry Barber performed in concert, filling our souls with his incredible voice and vibrant spirit.

More than 150 guests attended the event that featured selections from Terry’s album “Christmas Presence,” along with other classicals, classics and holiday favorites, including Jesus Christ the Apple Tree, Every Valley from Messiah, Panis Angelicus, Mary Did You Know?, O Holy Night, and his own top radio hit Christmas Once More.

Performing alongside him were the talented Johanna Ballou on piano, Amy Greenhalgh on violin and viola, and Adam Anello on Bass. During the concert, Terry also invited the children onto the stage to sing Silent Night, and the entire audience joined in for the finale of Joy to the World.

“An amazing concert in a magnificent, beautiful space,” says Mary Ann Collins, a friend of the CSJs who attend the event. “So privileged to have been there. Beautiful music for a season of beauty and love!”

Known for his extraordinarily rare range, both vocally and stylistically, Terry is an artist sought after by producers and composers for film, television and commercial recording projects. He was also a member of the multiple Grammy-winning ensemble Chanticleer. As a solo artist, Terry has performed on the world’s most impressive stages including Carnegie Hall and London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall. It was a privilege and honor to have him perform on our “stage” at the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet chapel.

It was an exceptional afternoon that sparked the Christmas spirit alive in all of us.

Terry’s next performance in the St. Louis area is Feb. 27 at the Sheldon Concert Hall, Around the World in 80 Minutes: The World’s Favorite Melodies in 10 Languages. To learn more about Terry and his upcoming events, visit his website at www.terry-barber.com
