STL 250: Carondelet Motherhouse Gets a New Look

A picture of the 1840 and 1854 sections of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet Motherhouse, showing the gray color is attached. All sections of the motherhouse complex, except the Chapel, were sandblasted to remove the gray paint in the mid 1960s.

The following text is from the Provincial Newsletter, May 1948:
Painting of the exterior of the buildings at Carondelet, which was commenced in fall and discontinued during the cold weather, was resumed late in April. All the walls except those of the chapel are being treated to coats of the gray color they have worn for the last generation.
