Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sister Patricia Gillespie who passed away September 8 of end stage Parkinson's disease at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis. She was 82 years of age.

Mary Patricia was born to parents William Patrick and Margaret (Corless) Gillespie on September 4, 1929 in Kansas City, MO. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet on September 15, 1947, and received the religious name S. Margaret William. She made her final vows March 19, 1950. Sister Patricia received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Fontbonne College, St. Louis, in 1960 and a master's in counseling and guidance at St. Louis University, St. Louis, in 1967.

S. Patricia taught in a number of schools from 1950-1970 in St. Louis, Ste. Genevieve and Florissant, Mo.; Indianapolis, Ind.; and Waco, TX. After teaching, she served as counselor at St. Francis de Sales High School in Denver, Colo., (1970-1971) and then St. Teresa's Academy in Kansas City, where she remained for the next 11 years. She also worked as chaplain at St. Joseph Health Center (1987-1988) and director of RCIA at St. Thomas More School (1988-1994), both in Kansas City.

In 1996, after some time off, S. Patricia returned to the St. Louis area and worked for a year in adult faith development at Seven Holy Founders Parish in Affton. She then ran her own adult learning and spirituality program as spiritual director and counselor in 1998. S. Patricia retired in 2003 and moved to Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 14 at Nazareth Living Center Chapel, 2 Nazareth Lane, St. Louis, MO 63129. The wake is at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
