Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sister Mary Philip Bieg who passed away on January 25 of myelodysplasia at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis. She was 91 years old.

S. Mary Philip was born in St. Louis, Mo. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet on September 15, 1942, and made her final profession on March 19, 1945.

Beginning in 1945, S. Mary taught at the intermediate and secondary level for nine years at St. Francis de Sales High School, Denver, Colo.; St. Leo Grade School, St. Louis, Mo.; St. Cecilia Grade School, Peoria, Ill.; and St. Luke Grade School, Richmond Heights, Mo.

She went on to receive her bachelor's degree in medical record library science from St. Louis University in 1955. After which, she held the position of medical records administrator at St. Joseph Hospital in Kirkwood, Mo. (1956-1961) and St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. (1961-1965).

S. Mary returned to teaching from 1965-1968 at Saints John & James Grade School in Ferguson, Mo. She then went back to school and received her master's in education from St. Louis University. She remained in the education field for six more years (1969-1975) and taught at St. Anthony High School in St. Louis and St. Luke Grade School in Richmond Heights.

From 1976-1990, S. Mary held the position of secretary for the La Salette Provincial House in St. Louis. She also was the development office secretary for the St. Joseph Provincial House (1991) and secretary and geriatrics assistant manager for the DuBourg House (1991-1992), both in St. Louis.

St. Mary came back to the St. Joseph Provincial House in 1992 and served as the health care claims coordinator until she retired to Nazareth Living Center in 2005.

Services for S. Mary were held on January 31 at Nazareth Living Center. She is buried at Resurrection Cemetery.
