Sister Mary Naomi Treml, CSJ 1912-2010

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sister Mary Naomi Treml, who departed this life on Saturday, October 30 of heart disease at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis. She was 98 years old.

S. Mary was born in Luxemberg, Wis. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet on Sept. 15, 1939, and made her final profession on Aug. 15, 1945. This year she celebrated her 70th jubilee as a Sister of St. Joseph.

In 1942, she began her ministry as a nurse at the St. Joseph's Home for Boys in St. Louis. Then, from 1943-1958, she served as a nurse and nurse supervisor at St. Joseph Hospital in Hancock, Mich.

S. Mary went on to receive her bachelor's degree in nursing education from College of St. Teresa in Kansas City in 1960. Afterwards, she was night supervisor at St. Joseph Hospital in Kirkwood, Mo. until 1962 when she returned to the city of Hancock to once again serve as nurse supervisor at St. Joseph Hospital.

She came back to Missouri to serve as the head nurse and nursing service director at Nazareth Living Center (1966-1971), and then as nurse, sister visitor and worked in pastoral care at the St. Joseph Health Center in Kansas City (1971-1984).

In 1984, S. Mary left for her hometown area to take care of her family in Casco, Wis. She also served as pastoral associate at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay (1984-1988). She remained in Casco until retiring to Nazareth Living Center in 2000.

Services for S. Mary will be held Thursday, Nov. 4 at Nazareth Living Center, 2 Nazareth Lane, St. Louis, MO 63111. Viewing of the body will be at 9 a.m. followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
