Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sister Mary Grace Heiner (S. Henrietta Eileen) who departed this life on Monday, August 9 at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis.

S. Mary Grace was born in St. Louis. She was received into the novitiate in 1929.

S. Mary Grace received her bachelor's degree in chemistry from Fontbonne College in St. Louis in 1928. She then went on to receive a master's in organic chemistry from St. Louis University in St. Louis in 1933.

She began her ministry as a teacher at St. Joseph's Academy in Chillicothe, Mo. in 1933. In 1934, S. Mary Grace went on to teach at St. Teresa's College in Kansas City, Mo. From 1946-1949 she studied at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. where she received her doctorate in organic chemistry.

S. Mary Grace returned as a teacher to St. Teresa's College in 1949. In 1955 she became a teacher in the college's adult education program and then director of the program in 1956. In 1957, she was named the college's academic dean.

From 1963-1976, S. Mary Grace became a member of the faculty and staff at Fontbonne College in Clayton, Mo., where she taught for nine years and then worked in the business office and at the switchboard. In 1976, she changed ministries and worked at the St. Joseph Provincialate/Provincial House as a receptionist and staff member.

In 1994, S. Mary Grace retired to Nazareth Living Center.

Services will be held Thursday, August 12 at the Nazareth Living Center Chapel, 2 Nazareth Lane, St. Louis, MO 63129. The viewing of the body will be at 9 a.m. and Mass of the Resurrection at 10 a.m. with burial immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery.
