On a gray Sunday morning, 200 people shared the light of the world with Sister Mary Flick as she took her first vows as a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet.

Sister Mary is a native of north county St. Louis and a proud graduate of Rosary High School. She has a bachelor's degree in communications from Maryville College and a master's in religious studies from St. Louis University.

Her spiritual perspective draws her to the CSJ's Ignatian roots, immersion in community service to the dear neighbor and practical approach to addressing the real needs and issues of the day. She left home ownership and a 24-year career at St. Louis University to commit to the novitiate and sees this as a time to enter into deep reflection.

Sister Mary is currently in Chicago as a part of the  Federation Novitiate, a common project of the Sisters of St. Joseph in the United States, is an eight-month concentration in the life, spirituality and mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph.
