Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sister Marie Louise Lemon (S. Mary Cecil) who passed away January 29 of end stage dementia at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis. She was 88.

S. Marie entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet on September 15, 1945 and made her final profession on August 15, 1951. She received bachelor's degree in elementary education from Fontbonne College in St. Louis in 1970.

For more than 39 years, S. Marie taught elementary education in Georgia, Missouri and Illinois. From 1948-1963, she served in grades kindergarten through fourth in Georgia at the following grade schools: Sacred Heart and St. Anthony, St. John the Evangelist in Valdosta, Sacred Heart in Savannah, and St. Joseph Academy and St. Francis Xavier in Brunswick.

She then left the south for the Midwest and taught first grade at Our Lady of Lourdes Grade School in University City, Mo. After two years, she returned to Georgia and was the first and second grade teacher at St. Mary on the Hill Grade School in Augusta. In 1969, she went back to Missouri and taught first grade at Saints John & James Grade School in Ferguson. S. Marie then made her way to the "Windy City" in 1973 and taught first grade at St. Bede the Venerable Grade School in Chicago for 15 years.

After teaching, S. Marie spent a year in transition and went on to serve as the mail room assistant at the St. Joseph Provincial House in St. Louis in 1989. She remained there until moving to Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis in 2005, ministering in prayer.

Funeral arrangements are planned for Wednesday, February 8 at the Nazareth Living Center Chapel, 2 Nazareth Lane, St. Louis, MO 63129. The wake will be at 9:00 a.m. followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 a.m.
