Sister Jane Hassett to Receive Fontbonne Award

Jane HassettSister Jane Hassett, CSJ has been selected as one of the 2013 recipients of Fontbonne University’s Founders Award. Each year the university recognizes alumni and others for their exemplary leadership and service to society, while living the mission and values of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, the founders and sponsors of the university.

Honored for her commitment to the service in CSJ values and mission, S. Jane has dedicated nearly 50 years of ministry to Fontbonne University. Since 1960, she has served as professor, chairperson of history, records researcher, writer for the advancement office and library archivist. She was also president of Fontbonne from 1972-1985.

"Being acquainted with Fontbonne was part of my growing-up years while visiting my grand aunts in the Wydown House (now known as the president’s residence)," says S. Jane. “Though not an alumna of the University, I am honored to be among those who live the mission and values of the Sisters of St. Joseph, our founders and sponsors."

S. Jane, along with four other awardees, will be honored during the annual Founders Dinner on Thursday, Oct. 17 at the Missouri History Museum. To read more about the award and honorees, click here.
