Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sister Eileen Hoffer who passed away on July 1  of a congestive heart failure at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis, Mo. She was 84 years old.

Sister Eileen was born on March 4, 1929, to parents Gregory Michale and Veronica (Seidler) Hoffer in St. Louis, Mo. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet on September 15, 1947, and made her final profession on August 15, 1953. She received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Fontbonne College in 1962.

Sister Eileen served 60 of her 65 years as Sister of St. Joseph in the Archdiocese of St. Louis. With more than half of those years teaching elementary education.  She began teaching at St. Mary Magdalen School (1950-1952); Holy Name Grade School (1952-1956); St. Louis Cathedral Grad School (1956-1962); Holy Cross Grade School in Champaign, IL (1962-1967); St. Cecilia Grade School (1967-1968); St. Matthew the Apostle Grade School (1968-1972); St. Roch Grade School (1972-1973); and St. Gregory Grade School (1973-1992).

In 1992 she served her community as Co-Administrator for the St. Joseph Provinical House.  Sister retired in 2000. Since 2005,  Sister Eileen had continued to carry out her ministry of prayer and witness at Nazareth Living Center.

A Mass of the Resurrection is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on July 5, 2013, following the wake at 9:00 a.m, at Nazareth Living Center Chapel, 2 Nazareth Lane, St. Louis, MO 63129 Sister will be buried at Resurrection Cemetery, St. Louis, MO
